Macherida is a small, secluded beach located 14km northeast of Chania and just 1km west of Chorafakia, near Tersanas. It gets its name either from the knife-shaped cape to the north ("machairi" means knife in Greek) or from the local flower *Gladiolus italicus*, also called “macherida.”Facing southwest, the bay stays calm most of the time. At its heart lies a picturesque cove with white sand and clear turquoise waters, framed by rugged rocks.
