The Bembo Fountain is the oldest Venetian fountain in Heraklion, Crete, built in 1588 by the Venetian governor Gian Matteo Bembo. It is located in Kornarou Square, just a short walk from the city center, and is a historical and architectural gem.The fountain is decorated with reliefs, architectural fragments, and coats of arms, and it features a central human statue, likely from the Roman era. \n\rNext to it stands a Turkish fountain (Sebil), added during the Ottoman period, which served as a place for offering water to passersby.Although the fountain no longer functions, it still holds the charm of the past and is a great spot for photos and those interested in the layered history of Heraklion.
