Moires, Heraklion, Crete
Goumenospilio is a small cave located in Agiofaraggo, in Crete, about 80 km south of Heraklion. It is small, but has historical significance, as it was a place of asceticism. According to legend, the cave was home to 300 hermits, who only met on Easter Day. There are remains of buildings and an old wall in the cave, the use of which is unknown. The entrance to the cave is small, but inside the cave it grows larger and the roof has a hole through which light enters. The cave is located near the cave church of Agios Antonios, in Agiofarago.
