About this Tour

Discover one of Central Crete’s most impressive viewpoints on a guided hike to Karfi, a historic peak overlooking the stunning Lasithi Plateau.
Starting and ending in the traditional village of Tzermiado, you’ll follow a relaxed 6 km circular trail along an ancient Minoan path once used to connect villages and plateaus. The route passes farmland, rocky terrain, and authentic rural landscapes.
Karfi played a significant role in history - serving as a refuge during the Late Minoan period and later as a strategic observation point in Byzantine times. Your experienced guide brings these stories to life as you ascend.
At the summit, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of villages, cultivated fields, and iconic windmills spread across the plateau. On clear days, you may even glimpse the sea in the distance. Along the way, encounter goats, sheep, and local wildlife that highlight the authentic character of rural Crete.
After the hike, you may optionally relax at a traditional tavern and enjoy a homemade Cretan meal prepared with local ingredients.
