Kokkinos Pirgos, 67 km west of Heraklion near Tymbaki, is named after a red tower at the mouth of the Geropotamos River. It serves as Tymbaki`s seaside village and main port, with numerous hotels, restaurants, and cafes. The warm climate supports local greenhouse farming, particularly fresh vegetables.
