The northern trailhead of Mili Gorge is located just a few kilometers south of Rethymno city, easily accessible by car or taxi. The trail begins near the village of Pano Mili, where you’ll find parking and signage marking the start of the walk.
The path leads through a lush, shaded gorge filled with abandoned old mills, running springs, stone bridges, and dense vegetation. It’s a peaceful and scenic hike, ideal for nature lovers, photographers, and families. The trail follows the riverbed and is mostly downhill if starting from the north, ending at the village of Kato Mili or further down near the Amari road.
The entire route takes about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on pace. Wear comfortable shoes, and bring water—though you’ll find some natural springs along the way!
