Little Triopetra Beach, also known locally as Mikri Triopetra or Koumado, is a beautiful and distinct beach located on the south coast of Crete, in the regional unit of Rethymno. It`s situated east of the main, larger Triopetra Beach, separated by a small, rocky headland.
The name `Triopetra` (meaning `Three Rocks`) comes from the three prominent rock formations that rise out of the sea at the edge of the peninsula separating Little and Big Triopetra. The sea it`s a mix of sand and rocks, with some areas having thicker sand and others being rockier. The seabed can also be rocky in places. The water is clear and often calm, especially within the sheltered bay and the beach is partially organized.
