Guora Gate, also known as Porta Guora or the Great Gate, is a significant historical landmark in Rethymno, Crete. Constructed between 1566 and 1568 during the tenure of Venetian Rector Giacomo Guoro, the gate served as the main entrance to the fortified Venetian city.
This arched gateway, measuring approximately 2.6 meters in width, is crafted from carved stone and features a semicircular arch. Today, Guora Gate stands as a testament to Rethymno`s rich history, marking the entrance to the Old Town`s charming narrow streets filled with shops, cafes, and historical sites.
